I work with persons struggling with sexual behavior problems including: compulsive sexual behavior, sexual “addiction”, sexual desires that are in some way problematic, “inappropriate” sexual behavior, sexual offending behaviors, and problematic pornography use. I also provide services to non-offending minor-attracted persons.
I have worked in this field for over 35 years, including a couple of years in a large metropolitan area where people were referred to our service when other providers didn’t know what to do. I suspect I have seen it all. One thing I know for sure is how hard it is – difficult to find the words and often embarrassing – to talk about these kinds of struggles. Privacy and confidentiality are crucial, but so are compassion and competence. I strive to bring all of those to my work.
